Johan Ghazali knows the road to becoming the best goes through a near-impossible mountain. The young phenom has set up camp at Superbon's gym in Bangkok in preparation for a possible return to action in the coming months in ONE Championship.
In an interview with the promotion, Ghazali said he's been put through the gauntlet during his daily sparring sessions with Superbon and pad work with famed coach Trainer Gae at Superbon Training Camp.
Johan Ghazali said:
"I feel like I learn so much in one sparring session with Superbon, and Trainer Gae, he pushes me hard. Every day I can't breathe, I'm so tired, but I'm not complaining. This is what I came here for. I'm learning fast, I'm improving, I'm progressing. Watch out."
The 18-year-old has built up a reputation as one of the best young prospects in ONE Championship, with an impressive promotional record of 6-1 including five knockout wins.
After stumbling in his first big test against multi-time world champion Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat, Ghazali returned to the win column with a comeback knockout win over Josue Cruz at ONE 168: Denver in September.
There are no official announcements of Ghazali's next match, but the Malaysian-American star is certainly ready to bring the fire against anyone he matches up with.
MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov extends an invite to Johan Ghazali to train with him in Dagestan
It's not just Muay Thai and kickboxing's best fighters who've taken notice of Johan Ghazali's limitless potential.
MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov recently met Ghazali during a speaking engagement in Kuala Lumpur. It was at that event that the Russian icon invited the rising Muay Thai star to train with him.
The former UFC lightweight world champion said Ghazali is welcome to train with him in Dagestan if the young striker ever decides to jump into MMA in the future.
Nurmagomedov said:
"I know he is a good young striker, he told me in the future he wants to move to MMA when he finishes with Muay Thai. He is always welcome to Dagestan and train at our gym. In MMA you need to train in wrestling, and he will improve that by training with us."
