Reece McLaren brings a specific mentality to the table each time that he is putting the hard work in during his training camp or making the walk.
The Australian talent and No. 4-ranked flyweight MMA contender has faced off with many of the top warriors in the division during his tenure in ONE Championship.
Rather than being intimidated by an opponent or the skills that they bring to the table, McLaren chooses to focus on himself to bring the best out of his abilities.
Part of the way he does this is by approaching each contest with the intention of making a statement and putting his foe in their place.
Regardless of what his next opponent, interim ONE strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks, has already accomplished in ONE, McLaren wants to show that he's a level above at ONE Fight Night 26.
Reece McLaren spoke about this in a recent interview with ONE Championship as Dec. 6 draws closer by the day:
"I'm always trying to make everyone else look like an amateur and be the only pro of the night sort of thing. We both bring it. I'm gonna try and bring it in as fit as I can within a four-week camp."
Reece McLaren isn't bothered by Jarred Brooks
This mental approach from Reece McLaren is particularly significant for this match up because of the accomplishments of Jarred Brooks.
Unlike McLaren, 'The Monkey God' has already captured gold during his time in ONE Championship.
The interim strawweight champion is now looking to make an indent at the weight class above by making his flyweight debut at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
McLaren isn't going to let him easily muscle in on the top rankings of the division, especially when there is a vacant title up for grabs.
The two men will collide for the first time on Dec. 6 in a huge fight for the weight class.
