Jessica Penne recently weighed in on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) featuring Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.

A TUF alum herself, Penne believes McGregor and Chandler have what it takes to hook in viewers. While she acknowledged the intensity of the competition, the 40-year-old noted that The Ultimate Fighter is after all a reality show that needs some drama. Penne told James Lynch in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA:

"I definitely think that they are two people who are going to bring the drama and the excitement and people will definitely tune in to watch them. You know, my experience on The Ultimate Fighter, it's a reality TV show even though competition is intentional in there. But I think that to get viewers spiked, you want the drame, you want the chaos and I definitely think they'll bring that."

Penne was one of 16 contestants at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Pettis vs. Team Melendez in 2014. She was Anthony Pettis' fifth pick and went on to lose to her friend Carla Esparza in the semi-finals. The strawweight veteran is slated to take on Brazilian prospect Tabatha Ricci at UFC 285 this weekend.

TUF 31 featuring Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler airs May 30 – August 15, 2023, on ESPN.

Former UFC champion and opponent has a clear prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez lost his strap to Conor McGregor via second-round TKO at UFC 205 in 2016. Prior to his UFC career, Alvarez was the lightweight champ at Bellator where he faced Michael Chandler in two title fights, going 1-1.

Having stepped into the cage with both McGregor and Chandler, Alvarez's prediction for the fight certainly carries some weight. 'The Underground King' believes 'The Notorious' will simply knock out Chandler as 'Iron' has visibly questionable defense. Labeling it a 'mismatch', Alvarez recently said on The MMA Hour:

"If he stands with Conor, Conor’s going to knock him out. It’s a mismatch. Mike Chandler’s defense sucks. He doesn’t have good defense, boxing. He throws bombs, but Conor’s way too fast, way too quick to get hit with anything Mike Chandler is throwing. So I feel like, Mike should wrestle and wrestle quickly, and use that. And if he doesn’t, it’s going to be a bad night.”
