It has been over two years since Electronic Arts' dropped their UFC game for previous-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Given EA's past release patterns, UFC 5 is due this year. But is that the case? Let us find out.
According to freelance video game journalist Tom Henderson, UFC 5 is expected to be released in the summer of 2023.
The journalist elaborated that the highly anticipated reboot of EA's boxing simulator franchise, Fight Night, had to be paused for the new UFC game's development.
Seeing as how EA has released a new UFC game every two years since EA Sports UFC 2014, it wouldn't be too far fetched to expect the new MMA simulation title to drop in the summer of 2023.
Although there has been no official word from the developers about the release date of the new MMA simulation game, a few job listings on Linkedin have made it more or less clear that the game is in fact in development.
Last year, eagle-eyed fight fans on the EASportsUFC sub-reddit spotted that Electronic Arts was searching for a Franchise Art Director to work on a new UFC title.
Last year, GameRant also reported that EA had posted a job listing on Linkedin searching for a Game Design Director to helm a new UFC title.
Which are the platforms that UFC 5 is expected to be released on
Much like its predecessors, EA's new MMA simulator title UFC 5 is expected to be released on the Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation consoles.
Even though the new game will be built primarily with the newer generation of consoles like the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 in mind, it's possible that EA will release a previous gen version for the Xbox One and PS4 as well.
Also, according to a report by OnSmash, the new UFC game is expected to be built using the Frostbite engine known for titles like FIFA and Madden games.
Seeing as many games built on Frostbite are currently available on PC, there is a chance that UFC 5 might drop for PC as well.
