Conor McGregor's imminent UFC return has obviously generated plenty of interest and since both he and Tony Ferguson revealed they were offered coaching positions on TUF, a fellow veteran lightweight has offered to step in as well.

Former TUF runner-up Michael Johnson weighed in and offered to replace McGregor in a potential clash with Ferguson. He took to Twitter to offer his services and tweeted out an insulting jibe at the former TUF winner.

He wrote:

"If Conor is not in! I’m there to take over! Tuf 12 finalist! And a chance to redeem yourself. Let’s see how ready @ufc. Makes sense for you to run to him. More money for getting your ass beat by @TheNotoriousMMA instead of me!"

The tweet was in response to Ferguson's tweet, where the former interim UFC lightweight champion was looking to coach TUF opposite either 'The Notorious' or Khabib Nurmagomedov. Ferguson chose to target the former two-division champion, writing:

"I’ve Been Asked To Coach On TUF Against Ol’e Fathead, or Anyone Of My Choosing If That Cake-Eatin’ Sum’Bish’ Wouldn’t Show *mack* What A Vagina Always Ready Anytime Anywhere,..I Choose You McKnacker @TheNotoriousMMA See Ewe Soon- Thee Champ -CSO-"

It will be interesting to see what the promotion has planned with regards to McGregor's return as a coach on TUF. It could mean that he won't be fighting until after the finale.

Tony Ferguson and Michael Johnson fought at UFC on FOX 3

Michael Johnson's offer to replace Conor McGregor in a potential clash against Tony Ferguson is somewhat surprising, considering they already fought at UFC on Fox 3 back in 2012.

The bout served as the headliner for the preliminary portion of the event and saw 'The Menace' earn a unanimous decision win after all three judges scored the bout 30-27 in his favor. One would assume it'd be 'El Cucuy' wanting to avenge his loss, but it's Johnson who has challenged him more than once.

The former TUF runner-up recently issued a challenge to the former interim lightweight champion and even offered to do so in 170lbs. He tweeted that he wants to give the fans what they want:

"Yo @TonyFergusonXT not sure if you’re still in the big game, but if so and you want to come back to 55 I’ll give you a chance to redeem yourself. or we can do it 170 also!! Let’s give the fans what they want!!!"
