Deron Winn has released a public reaction after being cut from the UFC roster.

Winn’s UFC tenure has come to an end after five fights. The Missouri native’s luck has gone from bad to worse after being forced to pull out of his fight against Julian Marquez. He responded to his UFC release on Twitter by saying:

“Being released after a freak accident on their property the week before Christmas. Man “it’s business not personal” has never been more real.”

The fight game can be relentless. A week ago, Winn was preparing for a massive opportunity to bounce back at UFC Vegas 66. Suddenly, the 33-year-old suffered a brutal setback during Christmas week. Hopefully, opportunities arise for him outside of the UFC.

What led to Deron Winn’s UFC release?

Deron Winn’s UFC tenure didn’t go as planned. The American Kickboxing Academy fighter won his UFC debut against Eric Spicey in June 2019. Most of the MMA community started to build expectations due to his gym affiliate and solid run on the regional scene.

The Lindenwood University wrestler went on to lose three of his next four fights. Before tragedy struck, he still had an opportunity to make a statement against Julian Marquez at UFC Vegas 66.

Unfortunately, the 33-year-old suffered a freak concussion injury, leading to his pulling out. The AKA fighter explained the injury story on Instagram by saying:

“Yesterday at the UFC PI, I fainted and had a freak accident. I fell down the stairs, hit my head and neck pretty hard. Sustained a mild concussion. They rushed me to the hospital and ran a bunch of tests on me. The majority of the tests came back normal, so I’m thankful for that…”

Winn concluded:

“Since I suffered the concussion, the UFC and medical has decided to pull me from my fight this weekend. I am devastated. I have put so much work in these last couple months. I hope to rebook soon.
"Sorry to my opponent and sorry to all have invested into me this camp. I’m heartbroken. Love all of you who support me.”
