Joe Rogan and welterweight star Jorge Masvidal have blamed the LA District Attorney and high crime rates as the reason more and more people are leaving California.

Last week, Rogan welcomed 'Gamebred' onto the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) as the pair discussed his return to the UFC amongst a host of other topics. Masvidal will return to the octagon next month when he takes on Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

Whilst appearing on the podcast, the UFC color commentator and Jorge Masvidal discussed Los Angeles, California, and compared it to Texas, where Rogan now lives. The 55-year-old left the Golden State in 2020 to live in Austin.

Joe Rogan stated that high crime rate, high taxes, COVID-19 and the government are the reasons that he and many others have left the state:

"It's just not the same place...COVID killed that place. COVID and the governor, the governor and the mayor, they just f***ed that place to death...Crime goes up, they let people out of jail, crime continues to go up. It's a mess. You've got that district attorney in LA, he's a monster."

Jorge Masvidal added his two-cents by stating:

"It's very scary. ... I was like there like eight weeks ago. It's a different zombieland now."

Chael Sonnen believes all the pressure is on Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287

Jorge Masvidal is set to mark his UFC return next month when he faces Gilbert Burns in UFC 287's co-main event.

'Gamebred's' walk to the octagon will be his first in over a year, last losing out to Colby Covington via unanimous decision in March 2022. Their bout was infamous for the attack in Miami that happened later, but the loss for Masvidal extended his losing streak to three.

Discussing the upcoming bout was former UFC fighter-turned-analyst Chael Sonnen. 'The American Gangster' opined that the pressure would all be on Masvidal because he's fighting in his home city and added that a four-fight skid would be a seriously hard place to come back from:

"Masvidal doesn't have to win this to not have egg on his face; of course, he doesn't. We know how tough Gilbert is. But Masvidal thinks he does [have to win], right? It's not us. It's not us that's putting pressure on Masvidal. He put it on himself. And that's just what happens when you fight at home. That same pressure he has, Gilbert doesn't have, even though Gilbert lives right here [in Miami, Florida]. It's different."
