Former two-division world champion Aung La N Sang would prefer to be the one giving out the knockouts, not the opposite.

The former middleweight and light heavyweight king has never been knocked out in the Circle, but has won by knockout 10 times in ONE Championship.

This Instagram post from ONE highlights Aung La’s toughness and ability to use distance to avoid being on the receiving end of a highlight reel finish, returning fire moments later. Take a look:

In this particular fight, Aung La N Sang fought Alexey Butorin at a ONE event in Hefei, China, in July 2016. With Butorin unable to land consistently on Aung La, eventually “The Burmese Python” dragged the Russian to the mat and submitted him with an arm triangle choke in Round 2.

The loss was the first of Butorin’s career.

For Aung La N Sang, the win was part of a win streak that led to his first world title shot against Vitaly Bigdash. Aung La lost the fight by unanimous decision, but received an immediate rematch and the judges’ decision in the next fight.

Aung La N Sang stoked to compete in the United States for the first time in a decade

Next up for Aung La N Sang is a fight that’s been on his radar for a long time: he’ll fight Chinese thumper Fan Rong on May 5.

The fight was originally supposed to take place at ONE Fight Night 6 in January, but Fan was forced to withdraw and was replaced by Gilberto Gilvao.

ONE Championship rebooked the fight for their debut card in the United States, set for May 5 in Colorado.

The former light heavyweight and middleweight world champion sees the booking as significant not only to attempt to add a third straight win to his record, but a return to his roots fighting in the States.

He posted a post for the fight to his Instagram, with this caption:

“Colorado 🏔️ here we come! 1st time in 10 years, I will be fighting in the USA 🇺🇸. Can’t wait to put on a show.”

Aung La N Sang not only trains at Florida’s Kill Cliff FC, but has a long history of living and fighting in the USA.

Before signing with ONE Championship in 2013, Aung La fought in the American Midwest and Northeast for promotions like Ring of Combat and King of the Cage.

He even made a short appearance for Bellator in 2012 and proceeded to win the fight four times for prominent promotion of the American Northeast CFFC.

Aung La N Sang compiled a reputation as a finisher in the United States throughout the first 25 fights of his career, and 10 years later, nothing has changed for Myanmar’s favorite son.
