So far in ONE Championship, Aung La N Sang has scored 11 finishes in the organization. Eight of those stoppages came by way of knockout or TKO, and three by submission. He most recently took out Yushin Okami last month in Singapore, knocking him out in under two minutes.

Aung La N Sang will look to add to his highlight reel on January 13 when he takes on Fan Rong in Bangkok. The bout takes place on ONE on Amazon Prime 6, which airs on Amazon Prime in US primetime.

Ahead of quick turnaround, Aung La N Sang believes eventual title fight will take time

Now back in the win column after a few years of ups and downs, Aung La N Sang hopes to build his first win streak since he was a champion three years ago.

His fight with Fan Rong is risky considering the Chinese fighter’s penchant for finishing matches, but certainly an advantageous fight for Aung La in several other ways.

Having to build a win streak could be the best thing to do to prepare him for a rematch with reigning world champion Reinier de Ridder, as Aung La was outgrappled in both of their previous fights.

Aung La explained in a recent interview ONE Championship how his current situation helps him prepare for a world title fight:

"I have really high-level grapplers at my disposal that I can work with. So it's not a matter of, ‘Can I do it?’ It's a matter of when. It's going to take time, I'm probably going to have to beat a few more guys. So it is what it is. I'm willing to climb back to the top."

Primarily training out of Kill Cliff FC in Florida, Aung La is surely looking forward to being able to compete in a time slot friendly to his American fanbase. He’s long been a resident of the United States, fighting for several promotions in North America before signing with ONE Championship in 2012.

His upcoming opponent, Fan, made his way to ONE Championship after going on an 11-fight win streak, finishing all but one of his opponents during that run. The 29-year-old has since claimed two wins in the promotion, and will look to add a third when he takes on the Burmese hero.

A victory over Fan Rong doesn’t do a lot for Aung La N Sang in terms of a big-name win, but it does give him the opportunity to entertain fans and build his win streak. He’s often floated between middleweight and light heavyweight, so the door is open for him to pursue the rematch with de Ridder or to challenge the man that just beat him, Anatoly Malykhin.

Given his track record, Aung La could likely find himself in a big world title fight before 2023’s end if he takes care of business against Fan Rong.
