Danial Williams stopped Zelang Zhaxi back in July

With back-to-back MMA wins in the circle, Australian-Thai striker Danial Williams came into his fight with Zelang Zhaxi in July with a lot of momentum. Producing his best moment in ONE Championship to date, Williams put an end to Zhaxi’s trash-talking in the first round and took home a Performance of the Night bonus on top.

After a back-and-forth in the build-up to the fight where the two exchanged words, tension was in the air for Williams vs. Zelang. The Chinese fighter began the fight by taunting Williams as if he was finding the fight too easy, attempting to draw 'Mini T' into a brawl.

As the taunts kept on coming, Danial Williams kept his composure, started to find his timing and closed the show on Zelang with a perfect step-in right hand at 4 minutes and 20 seconds of the opening round.

Williams said this after the fight:

“I was really trying to hold back because that showboating, far out, it gets me a little bit but I knew, the coaches were like stay patient, stay patient and then yeah it worked. We set up the angle, straight to the right, got him on the chin.”

Australia's Danial Williams returns this Friday at ONE on Prime Video 3 where he meets dangerous striker Jeremy ‘The Jaguar’ Miado.

“There’s a lot on the line” - Danial Williams says fight with Jeremy Miado "makes total sense"

In a highly ranked strawweight MMA contest this Friday, Australia’s Danial Williams will face Jeremy ‘The Jaguar’ Miado.

With both men coming into the contest with momentum and finishes in their last fights, there are big stakes at play in this match-up, something that Danial Williams has said made it an easy fight to sign. In an interview with ONE Championship, he stated:

“I was happy with this matchup as soon as it was thrown to me. I didn’t even take two seconds to think twice about it. Me and Miado makes total sense. He’s on the same brink as I am. He was in the top five a few months ago. Now I stole it, so a win for both of us here is pivotal.”

With both men competing for their fourth consecutive win and the all-important climb up the rankings, it’s sure to be one competitive encounter. With both men being proven finishers in the circle, this high-stakes match-up could change course at a moment's notice. Williams concluded by adding:

“We’re in the same boat. There’s a lot on the line for both of us, and this is why this one is going to be a banger on Prime Video.”
