UFC Fight Night: Vera vs. Sandhagen has gotten off to an electric start and may have already found its fight of the night when C.J. Vergara came back from the brink of defeat to earn a stunning TKO victory during the prelims.

The 31-year-old has a 64% finishing record and is known for his gritty nature, which was on full display tonight. The flyweight earned his way into the UFC with a standout performance in the Contender Series when he walked straight through his opponent Bruno Mesquita in just 41 seconds two years ago.

As the first round unfolded, it looked as though C.J. Vergara's chances of victory were fading as he endured a lot of damage from Daniel da Silva. Being rocked on the feet and being forced to run away from more incoming damage, the American rallied in the second round and scored a brilliant comeback TKO victory.

Vergara was competing in his fourth UFC appearance and was desperate to get back into the winner's column after a submission loss to Tatsuro Taira. Vergara managed to do so against the tough Brazilian in a fight that will live on in the 31-year-old's highlight reel for the remainder of his career.

The sport is filled with beautiful highs and excruciating lows, and that could unfortunately be the case for Daniel da Silva. Although he looked promising early on, the loss was his fourth straight in the octagon, which could now signal the end of his time in the promotion.

C.J. Vergara's UFC career thus far

C.J. Vergara has been a welcome addition to the UFC and has a great backstory that involves overcoming being bullied as a youngster. But has his performances translated well into the pinnacle of MMA?

In his octagon debut, the brawler came up against the tough Ode Osbourne, and after a back-and-forth, closely-contested three-round war, it was the Jamaican who managed to get his hand raised by unanimous decision.

Next, Vergara would collect his first win in the company after battling to a split decision win over Kleydson Rodrigues, a young Brazilian who was unbeaten for seven years prior to the loss.

The aforementioned submission loss to Tatsuro Taira and today's TKO victory over Daniel da Silva rounds out his four-fight career with the promotion, with his record currently standing at 2-2.
