ONE Championship shared highlights of Demetrious Johnson's impressive performance against Danny Kingad.

In October 2019, Johnson fought in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix final after defeating Yuya Wakamatsu and Tatsumitsu Wada. Standing across from 'Mighty Mouse' at ONE: Century Part l was Kingad, who earned the opportunity by taking out Senzo Ikeda and Reece McLaren.

Kingad was outmatched on paper, but he went toe-to-toe with Johnson for three rounds. Nonetheless, the American legend defeated 'The King' by unanimous decision to become the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix champion, leading to a legendary trilogy against Adriano Moraes for the ONE flyweight MMA world title.

Earlier this week, ONE honored the battle between Johnson and Kingad by posting highlights on Instagram, which can be seen below.

What's next for Demetrious Johnson under the ONE Championship banner?

Demetrious Johnson last fought in May 2023, defeating Adriano Moraes in a trilogy bout to retain his flyweight MMA world title. Heading into the ONE Fight Night 10 matchup, 'Mighty Mouse' teased his retirement regardless of the result, which he has since steered away from temporarily.

Therefore, the living legend could return to defend his throne later this year.

Meanwhile, 'Mighty Mouse' might also be interested in competing in submission grappling under the ONE Championship banner. Since his last fight, Johnson has competed in several grappling tournaments, including the IBJJF Masters Worlds and IBJJF Pan Championship.

The 37-year-old went viral in the latter tournament mentioned for submitting a heavyweight-sized opponent. It'll be intriguing to see if the reigning ONE flyweight MMA king decides to test himself against a fellow superstar like ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci.
