Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the king of Muay Thai in ONE Championship’s flyweight division, has a presence unlike any other.

In the same week over three years ago, the Thai world champion defended his belt with a classic fight against England’s Jonathan Haggerty. ONE Championship has commemorated the flyweight Muay Thai world champ’s rematch with Haggerty by uploading the full fight to their YouTube channel.

Check out the fight below:

Rodtang began the fight with a feeling-out process, placing punches to the body with precision. One such uppercut to the ribs pierced through the guard early and briefly dropped Haggerty to the ground.

To his credit, Haggerty tried to slow the forward pressure of Rodtang with push and low kicks throughout the fight. One wild highlight of the second round was when the Englishman caught a body kick from Jitmuangnon and attempted to sweep the other leg, but the world champ leaped over the sweeping leg.

The third round was the portion where the defending world champion turned up the temperature and gunned hard for the finish.

After the fight came to brief pause due to an eye poke, Rodtang’s adrenaline kicked in and he dropped his opponent with a barrage of punches to the body and head. When Haggerty rose to his feet, his right ear had started to spray blood down his face. The end seemed near.

Another knockdown to Haggerty brought the finish within a fingertip’s grasp. Haggerty was slow to stand, and Jitmuangnon finished the job moments later with another flurry and body shot.

The fight was a vintage performance from the world champion, showcasing his intensity and fearsome presence in the ring.

Rodtang “not satisfied” with Joseph Lasiri win, wish he could have entertained more

At ONE on Prime Video 4, Rodtang Jitmuangnon continued his reign as the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, defending his belt against the strawweight Muay Thai titleholder, Joseph Lasiri. Despite the win, Jitmuangnon expects more from himself in ONE Circle.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, the Thai superstar reflected on his most recent win:

“Certainly, I was pleased because I won. But I was not too satisfied because that match was not entertaining enough to my expectation. Compared to my fight with Jacob Smith, I felt satisfied because the opponent actively traded weapons with me. To me, it was a very impressive fight. But Joseph chose to run away from the first to the final round. I am happy because I won. But I’m also frustrated that I couldn't entertain the fans and give them what they wanted to see.

It may be unrealistic for Rodtang to expect the same level of crowd appeasement for every one of his fights, given that a fan-pleasing showcase requires a certain combination of styles between two fighters.

Jitmuangnon’s next fight takes place this Friday in Bangkok when he fights Chinese striker Jiduo Yibu at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video. His fight and more will be broadcast live and for free for Prime Video subscribers across North America.
