WATCH: When MMA legend Demetrious Johnson schooled arch-rival Adriano Moraes in the art of ground control in Denver trilogy fight

ONE flyweight MMA world champion Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes settled their differences in a trilogy bout for the ages in ONE Championship's first-ever live event in the United States back in May 2023, ONE Fight Night 10.

The rubber match was out to determine who truly was most deserving of being the flyweight MMA world titlist especially after 'Mikinho' knocked out Johnson with the knee strike heard around the world in April of 2021 while 'Mighty Mouse' responded in kind in August the following year.

Johnson stuck to his guns, letting Moraes be the aggressor and picking his spots of when to attack which led to him having this great highlight of keeping Moraes controlled on the ground despite the Brazilian star having his leg.

That was just among the many moments of technical brilliance from Johnson in their trilogy bout that showcased how much he improved since his first matchup with the American Top Team/Constrictor Team product.

Moraes was able to soon get back to his feet after that takedown attempt and ultimately make it to the final bell. Still, when the dust settled, Johnson took home the win and the flyweight MMA world title via unanimous decision.

Two monumental ONE world championship clashes headline United States return

ONE Championship is heading back to the United States later this year on Sept. 6 with ONE 168: Denver happening inside the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

The show's headliners will see ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex challenge Xiong Jing Nan for the women's strawweight MMA world championship while Jonathan Haggerty puts his bantamweight Muay Thai world title against ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver will go on sale to the general public on April 24 at 10 AM Mountain Time (MT) on Ticketmaster.
