Khamzat Chimaev competes in the welterweight and middleweight divisions of the UFC. The Chechen-born Swede is ranked No.3 in the UFC welterweight division but is unranked in the middleweight division.

Chimaev has had three welterweight bouts, two middleweight bouts and one catchweight bout in the UFC. Despite being the No.3-ranked welterweight fighter in the UFC, Chimaev has had issues making the 170lbs limit. He has only fought five welterweight bouts in his 12-fight MMA career.

Chimaev has a UFC record of 6-0 and an overall MMA record of 12-0.

'Borz' has had three catchweight bouts in his career. In his pro debut at the International Ring Fight Arena 14, he fought in a catchweight bout of 180lbs against Gard Olve Sagen. He won the fight via TKO in the second round.

He faced Ikram Aliskerov at Brave CF 23 in a 180lbs catchweight bout, where he won via first-round knockout. His last catchweight bout came against Kevin Holland at UFC 279 where he finished the American with a D'arce choke in the first round.

At middleweight, Khamzat Chimaev has had a successful run. He made his UFC debut at 185lbs against John Phillips at UFC Fight Island 1, where he submitted Phillips via brabo choke in the second round. His second outing at middleweight saw him knock out Gerald Meerschaert in 17 seconds at UFC Fight Night 178.

Chimaev has had four middleweight bouts in his career, with two of them coming in the UFC.

Khamzat Chimaev's weight-cutting fiasco at UFC 279

Khamzat Chimaev was initially supposed to face Nate Diaz in a 170lbs headlining bout at UFC 279 but missed weight by 7.5lbs. This incident caused the whole card to be rejigged. 'Borz' was matched up against Kevin Holland in a five-round co-main event and Diaz was scheduled to face Tony Ferguson in the headliner.

At the UFC 278 post-fight press conference, Dana White expressed that he wanted to see Chimaev face Colby Covington next, possibly on the same card as the Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman trilogy.

However, at the UFC 279 post-fight press conference, White said that he preferred Khamzat Chimaev fighting at middleweight for his future fights.

'Borz' said that he wants to face Colby Covington for his next fight, which he expressed in an Instagram post.
