UFC 287: Pereira vs. Adesanya 2 - Main card fighters

Here is a list of all the main card fights for this weekend's UFC event:

Alex Pereira (C) vs. Israel Adesanya (middleweight championship)

Gilbert Burns vs. Jorge Masvidal (welterweight)

Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez (bantamweight)

Kevin Holland vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio (welterweight)

Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Christian Rodriguez (bantamweight)

Alex Pereira (7-1)

Alex Pereira dethroned Israel Adesanya with a stunning fifth-round TKO the last time they battled inside the octagon in November. The victory marked his third straight triumph over 'The Last Stylebender', with two of those wins coming inside the kickboxing ring.

'Poatan' will now look to make his first successful title defense and go 4-0 against his long-time rival in the world of combat sports.

Israel Adesanya (23-2)

Israel Adesanya will be determined to get his revenge against Alex Pereira in their title rematch at UFC 287 this Saturday and reclaim the 185-pound title. If the former champion fails to find a path to victory, it could put him out of the title picture for some time.

Gilbert Burns (21-5)

Gilbert Burns is coming off a stunning first-round submission win over Neil Magny in January. 'Durinho' has alternated wins and losses in his last four outings and looks poised to piece together another win streak starting Saturday.

Jorge Masvidal (35-16)

Jorge Masvidal finds himself on a three-fight skid for the first time in his MMA career. 'Gamebred' suffered back-to-back losses against former divisional champion Kamaru Usman before dropping a unanimous decision to Colby Covington last time out in March 2022. The Miami native is in dire need of a win this Saturday to revive his octagon career.

Rob Font (19-6)

Rob Font is coming off two consecutive decision losses to Marlon Vera and Jose Aldo. The 35-year-old will aim to get back to winning ways as he takes on a streaking opponent in Adrian Yanez this weekend.

Adrian Yanez (16-3)

Adrian Yanez will enter his upcoming bout on the strength of an impressive nine-fight win streak, five of which have come inside the octagon. A product of Dana White's Contender Series, the Texan most recently dispatched Tony Kelley with a first-round TKO last June.

Kevin Holland (23-9-1NC)

Kevin Holland has struggled for consistency in recent years, going 2-4-1NC in his last seven trips to the octagon. 'Trailblazer' was dispatched in both of his last two outings with his latest defeat coming against Stephen Thompson via fourth-round TKO.

Santiago Ponzinibbio (29-6)

Much like his opponent, Santiago Ponzinibbio has also lacked consistency of late, going 2-3 in his past five outings. However, 'Argentine Dagger' is fresh off a TKO win over Alex Morono after back-to-back split-decision defeats.

Raul Rosas Jr. (7-0)

Raul Rosas Jr. made a sensational UFC debut in December, dispatching Jay Perrin with a first-round submission. The 18-year-old prospect has finished all but one of his opponents.

Christian Rodriguez (8-1)

Christian Rodriguez made an unsuccessful start to his promotional career, dropping a unanimous decision to Jonathan Pearce. However, he bounced back in impressive fashion with a first-round submission of Joshua Weems last October. 'CeeRod' will look to pull off an upset and take Rosas Jr.'s momentum with him when the two clash this weekend.

UFC 287: Pereira vs. Adesanya 2 - Preliminary card fighters

Here is a list of all the prelim card fights for this weekend's event:

Kelvin Gastelum vs. Chris Curtis (middleweight)

Michelle Waterson vs. Luana Pinheiro (women's strawweight)

Gerald Meerschaert vs. Joe Pyfer (middleweight)

Karl Williams vs. Chase Sherman (heavyweight)

Kelvin Gastelum (16-8-1NC)

Kelvin Gastelum's UFC career has been on a downward trajectory. The former title challenger has lost five of his last six bouts and is coming off a unanimous decision defeat against Jared Cannonier in August 2021.

Chris Curtis (30-9)

Chris Curtis' eight-fight win streak came to a halt when he ran into Jack Hermansson in July last year. However, 'The Action Man' bounced back impressively, knocking out Joaquin Buckley five months later at UFC 282 in December.

Michelle Waterson (18-10)

Michelle Waterson hasn't found much success in recent years, going 1-4 in her last five trips to the octagon. In her latest outing in July, 'The Karate Hottie' was submitted by Amanda Lemos in the first round.

Luana Pinheiro (10-1)

Luana Pinheiro will make her third promotional appearance on Saturday on the back of an eight-fight win streak. The Brazilian edged out Sam Hughes in her most recent fight in November 2021.

Gerald Meerschaert (35-15)

After three straight submission wins, Gerald Meerschaert suffered a unanimous decision loss against Krzysztof Jotko last April. However, he rebounded in impressive fashion with a submission win over Bruno Silva four months later.

Joe Pyfer (10-2)

Joe Pyfer will make his sophomore UFC appearance this weekend, seeking his fourth straight finish. 'Bodybagz' scored a first-round TKO win over Alen Amedovski in his UFC debut last September.

Karl Williams (8-1)

Karl Williams is riding a five-fight win streak into this bout, with his latest triumph coming over Lukasz Brzeski via decision in March. Williams will make a quick turnaround as he makes his second UFC appearance on Saturday.

Chase Sherman (16-11)

Chase Sherman ended his four-fight skid with a TKO win over Jared Vanderaa last July. However, 'The Vanilla Gorilla' ended up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision in his subsequent bout in November against Waldo Cortes-Acosta.
