The recently held UFC San Antonio event saw the fight between Alex Perez and Manel Kape being chalked off the main card during the live broadcast of the event. While there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the cancelation of the bout, Perez recently took to Twitter himself to provide clarity on the matter.

The number 6 ranked flyweight contender revealed that he had a seizure while doing his pre-fight warm-up, stating:

"First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for all the support and concerns. I was doing my pre-fight warm up and had a seizure. I immediately received medical attention. My hydration, electrolytes, etc were all more than adequate. This has nothing to do with weight cut."

In a tweet that followed, Alex Perez said:

"[It was] one of the easiest cuts of my career. I will be undergoing further testing in the upcoming weeks to determine the cause. I would appreciate privacy. My apologizes to my opponent and fans. Thank you to the UFC medical team for their help and support."

It is worth noting that the bout was crucial for Alex Perez, who was looking to bounce back from back-to-back first-round losses. Back in 2020, he suffered a first-round submission loss at the hands of former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo.

Upon his return to the UFC last year in July, he ended up suffering yet another first-round submission defeat, this time against Alexandre Pantoja.

UFC San Antonio: Did Manel Kape accuse Alex Perez of spying?

The flyweight bout between Kape and Perez was one of the most exciting bouts on the card. However, as mentioned earlier, it was unfortunately canceled. Going into the bout, tensions were flaring between the two fighters, adding to the anticipation surrounding the fight.

Interestingly, Manel Kape accused the former UFC flyweight title challenger of spying on him during the ceremonial weigh-ins. Both fighters almost traded blows during the face-off before being separated by security.

Upon being separated by security personnel, Manel Kape suggested that the latter could be using fraudulent means to gain an unfair advantage and stated:

“Hey, I know about your snitches. I know about people that watch my training."
