Chael Sonnen has weighed in on the recent outburst by Paddy Pimblett towards fellow fighter Jared Gordon.
According to Sonnen, Gordon was simply doing what he was supposed to be doing, keeping the spotlight on himself and staying relevant in the sport. He noted that Gordon had been brought in as a "sacrificial lamb" but had looked impressive and was within his rights to seek a rematch. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Sonnen defended Gordon's actions, saying:
"Jared Gordon is doing everything he's supposed to be doing. Jared is keeping a spotlight on him. He's keeping the talk out there... Jared was brought in like is this sacrificial lamb and he was anything but he looked awesome and he wanted his shine and he thought well maybe I could even get myself a rematch. Like Jared Gordon is well within the lines here."
Speaking of Pimblett's reactions, Sonnen stated that the 28-year-old had entered the fight with an injury but had pushed through the pain to compete. However, the criticism and doubts surrounding his victory had apparently taken a toll on the fighter, causing him to "lash out.":
"The one and the only thing that he got for that whole training camp for getting on that airplane... pushing through when he was injured, for being willing to be a good sport and accept the result that just happened to go his way and then they take it from him. People say, ah, you shouldn't have won, that's not right. I mean it's one of those things how are you gonna respond to it?"

Paddy Pimblett defeated Jared Gordon at UFC 282, via unanimous decision. However, with many fans and fighters believing that 'Flash' win the bout, the Liverpudlian recently called out the 34-year-old for a rematch. Speaking from his hospital bed following surgery, the Liverpudlian took aim at Gordon and lashed out saying:
"You're f**king dog s**t. At my worst, you couldn't beat me at your best. Injured, everything going wrong, and you couldn't beat me on my worst day, and I beat you on your best, because you're a little bum."
