Zhang Peimian vows to go all out against Rui Botelho: “I’ll control the game with high-frequency striking”

Chinese striking standout Zhang Peimian is ready to steal the show when he steps inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on November 3.

After winning three of his last four, including an impressive unanimous decision victory over Torepchi Dongak in his last outing, the ‘Fighting Rooster’ will look to get one step closer to a rematch with reigning ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Di Bella when he meets Rui Botelho.

Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of fight night, Zhang Peimian believes that he will have all the tools necessary to put on a show and overwhelm his opponent inside the Mecca of Muay Thai.

Zhang Peimian said:

“Our styles are very different. I’ll be faster than him, and I’ll control the game with high-frequency striking.”

With a solid performance against Rui Botelho at ONE Fight Night 16, Peimian could make a case for a rematch with the only man to have defeated him under the ONE banner thus far, Jonathan Di Bella. Squaring off at ONE 162 just over a year ago, Di Bella delivered a dominant performance to claim the strawweight kickboxing crown.

Standing in Zhang Peimian’s way of another potential crack at ONE Championship gold will be Rui Botelho, a Portuguese striker who will be seeking his second-straight win in kickboxing in ONE.

Since then, Botelho has typically competed in the art of eight limbs where he has faced some of the sport's toughest challengers, including Panpayak Jitmuangnon, Taiki Naito, and Superlek.
