In recent years, Stamp Fairtex has put all of her focus into becoming an MMA world champion, but as it turns out, the Thai fan favorite is eyeing a potential return to the sport she once dominated under the ONE Championship banner, Muay Thai.

When Stamp Fairtex first debuted in ONE, she immediately made history by capturing the ONE atomweight kickboxing world championship. Not content with just one world title, Stamp then challenged for the inaugural ONE atomweight Muay Thai world title. Capturing that belt with another dominant performance, Stamp quickly became the promotion’s first-ever two-sport titleholder.

Nearly three years removed from her last bout in the art of eight limbs, Stamp is looking at a potential return to Muay Thai in 2023. In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Stamp said:

“I would like to go back to Muay Thai because I havn’t been in Muay Thai for quite some time and also right now there’s like a bonus for the champ, so that is very interesting. Also I would like to have a chance to fight for the belt and also defend the belt.”

While she came up short in her lone MMA world title bid against atomweight queen Angela Lee, Stamp Fairtex has proven that she can stand with the best in the world of mixed martial arts. Going 9-2 in MMA competition and winning the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix, nobody can deny that Stamp’s transition to MMA has been a rousing success.

Make no mistake, Stamp Fairtex is still gunning for that third world title

While Stamp Fairtex has an interest in returning to Muay Thai competition, the dance-happy fighter is still gunning for Angela Lee and the ONE women’s atomweight world championship.

As the No. 1 ranked contender in the division, Stamp is likely the next woman in line for a shot, assuming she gets past Anissa Meksen on January 13.

Stamp and Lee running back their epic encounter at ONE X last March feels inevitable, but the outcome will be quite different, according to Stamp. Speaking with Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Stamp believes she can knock out ‘Unstoppable’ in a potential rematch and make history as the promotion’s first three-sport champion:

“I felt really bad [that I didn’t get the knockout]. I knew she was scared of the body shots, so that’s what I went after. After fighting her the first time, I know that if I fought her again, I can knock her out and I can win. Because I know how she fights now, I’ve experienced it.”
