ONE's inaugural featherweight kickboxing champ Superbon Singha Mawynn is prepping for his title fight at ONE on Prime Video 6, and he recently welcomed UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori into his fight camp.
The world's pound-for-pound top kickboxer gets his training done at the Banchamek Gym in Bangkok under the tutelage of Suthat Muangmun, a.k.a. Trainer Gae.
Superbon has sharpened his skills for well over a decade en route to winning multiple prestigious titles, including the PAT Thailand Championship and the WBC Intercontinental Championship, among several others.
It's no wonder why Vettori sought out the ONE kickboxing champ and his team to add to his striking arsenal.
Superbon appreciates Trainer Gae for pushing him past his limits
The 32-year-old striker has immense talent, essentially growing up in the gym. However, Trainer Gae has truly gotten the most out of his pupil and Superbon knows it. He told ONE Championship:
“He has a true love for Muay Thai. He always strives to make his athletes successful in the profession. He always has positive energy. Also, he always invents unique ways of training to make me better and stronger.”
The champ added, saying:
“In terms of experience or techniques, I have them all. But what I lacked was someone who pushes me and sets a new goal for me. Like, when I hit the pads for five rounds, he will ask me to do seven. Or if I just run for five kilometers, he will make me run for eight. And that’s what I want.”
Since signing with ONE in 2020, the Thai star has won three straight contests over the likes of Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Marat Grigorian.
His biggest highlight came against Italy's Petrosyan—ending the fight with a flush right high kick in the second round. He'll look to mirror that result in his next title defense.
