According to a recent claim from ESPN's Ariel Helwani, Jared Cannonier has reportedly signed a deal to face Robert Whittaker in early 2020, as per the former's manager Lou Di Bono.

Jared Cannonier's rise in the UFC Middleweight Division

In May of 2019, Jared Cannonier faced middleweight veteran Anderson Silva at UFC 237 and finished off 'The Spider' within the very first-round via TKO following a kick to Silva's right leg that led to the latter being unable to continue the fight.

Cannonier's last Octagon outing took place in September, as he faced Jack Hermansson in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 18 and defeated the latter via second-round TKO to mark his second win in the Octagon in 2019.

Cannonier vs Whittaker in the works for 2020

While recently interacting with Ariel Helwani, Jared Cannonier's manager Lou Di Bono stated that his agent has seemingly signed a deal to face former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker in March of 2020.

However, the fight is yet to be finalized as Whittaker remains highly interested in a bout against middleweight newcomer Darren Till in London and a final decision is expected to be made real soon.

What's next for Jared Cannonier?

As of now, a fight for Jared Cannonier is yet to be booked, however, expect him to face-off against one of the middleweight division's top contenders.
