The highly awaited clash between striking savants Chingiz Allazov and Superbon Singha Mawynn finally went down at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, this past weekend.

Once the smoke cleared, Allazov put on the performance of a lifetime to dethrone the Thai superstar and become the new undisputed featherweight kickboxing world champion.

What was expected to be a back-and-forth affair turned into a surprising two-round beatdown. Allazov completely annihilated the once-considered pound-for-pound best kickboxer on the planet.

After setting the tone in round one with his lightning-fast hands and mesmerizing combinations, ‘Chinga’ went for the kill in the second frame and successfully slayed the beast.

A well-timed right cross to the temple initially took away Superbon’s equilibrium – along with his aura of invincibility. The 32-year-old came down but he wasn’t out. Well, yet, at least.

Once the fight resumed, another right hook from Allazov sneaked past Superbon’s defenses and sent him crashing to the mat. The hometown hero valiantly got back up for the final time.

Sensing the big moment, Allazov conquered the once unscalable mountain and took out Superbon for good with a thunderous straight right heard around the world.

Now that the world title has changed hands, where do Allazov and Superbon go from here? Let’s take a closer look.

What’s next for new ONE featherweight world champion Chingiz Allazov?

As soon as he won the Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix last year, Chingiz Allazov continued to grind in the gym in preparation for Superbon.

Now, he gets to feast on the fruits of his labor, having earned some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

However, it’s true that heavy is the head that wears the crown. It won’t be long until ‘Chinga’ must return to the circle to defend his newly won throne against potential invaders.

As such, we shouldn’t be surprised if Superbon emerges as his first challenger. After all, the Thai superstar was previously unbeaten in the circle, with dominant wins over the likes of Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Marat Grigorian.

If there’s any former world champion who deserves an immediate rematch, it’s certainly him. Still, it’s unclear just how much damage Superbon sustained against Allazov and there’s no timetable for his return at the moment.

The featherweight division does have a lot of killers in the top five like the aforementioned names above. Sitthichai, Petrosyan, and Grigorian are all still in the running, with Allazov stating that he has ‘no problem’ defending his world title against any of these potential challengers.

What’s next for Superbon Singha Mawynn?

For sure, Superbon would love the chance to right his wrongs and reclaim his gold strap against Allazov.

A dominant former world champion like him, after all, usually earns that distinction. However, the case can be made that he was completely outclassed by the new Azerbaijani-Belarusian titleholder.

It’s not like it was a close-contested bout that went the distance. He was viciously knocked out and was getting annihilated even before the finish. Superbon, who usually imposes his will against his opponents, was the one on the receiving end of violent barrages throughout that fight.

He was not at his best for sure and looked like a completely different and totally passive fighter.

With that said, a dissatisfying performance like that does not exactly seem worthy of an outright rematch for a world title.

If an immediate world title shot is not on the cards for Superbon, he might just be a fight or two away from earning another opportunity. He can easily work his way back up after another decisive victory from anyone in the top five.

A bitter loss like this could still be a positive development for his career moving forward. Now, he goes back to the drawing board to fine-tune his skills. Plus, that hunger to retrieve his lost belt should work wonders for Superbon’s career moving forward.
