'No Love' last stepped into the octagon at UFC 285 when he returned to the bantamweight division to face Trevin Jones. Garbrandt put on a veteran-esque performance by showcasing his striking whilst taking little risk throughout the fight to secure a unanimous decision victory.

Cody Garbrandt's win was his first since 2020 and just his second in his last seven appearances. The 31-year-old has suffered a torrid time loss of form in the octagon since losing the bantamweight title to T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 217, where he was undefeated prior to their grudge match.

Speaking on MMA Junkie Radio, the former bantamweight champion was asked about his next fight and potential opponent. Cody Garbrandt stated that he's hoping to fight at UFC 290 and finally face Rani Yahya, after Yahya previously pulled-out from back-to-back fights against him:

“I’d like to fight International Fight Week. My birthday is July 7. The fight’s July 8, so it would be great to weigh in on my birthday, fight the next day, (and) get a big win. I saw Rani Yahya is slated to fight in April, so if he wins, hopefully he can fight in July. That’s something I look forward to, fighting him.”

He added:

“July 8, I’m getting ready for whatever – hopefully Rani Yahya. It’s two fights that he’s pulled out, so I’d really like to whoop his ass just for that. That’s two fight camps you didn’t get paid for.”

When Michael Bisping joked that he'd "run over" Cody Garbrandt

Prior to his bout at UFC 285, Cody Garbrandt appeared on the BT Sport panel to chat with Michael Bisping, Adam Catterall and Nick Peet.

During the interview, Bisping asked 'No Love' about his training and recent Instagram posts which have pictured the 31-year-old out cycling on the roads. 'The Count' hoped that Garbrandt wouldn't cycle right behind cars and joked that if he did that he'd run him over:

"Let me ask you this, do you cycle side-by-side when there's cars behind you?...Because if you do, I'm gonna run you over because you're a total nobhead if you do and I will beep and I will honk the horns and, 'Get Over! I'm trying to pass.' Single file please."

Garbrandt responded:

"There's a bike sign. Alright, you gotta share with the bikers, you know. But no actually, being a cyclist made me a better driver cause I'm like looking out for cyclists...I've been hit once."
