Hendrick Motorsports teams had a lot more than racing on their minds this weekend.

Ahead of Sunday's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race at Dover International Speedway, the team shared photos of their #CharlotteStrong helmet and car decals to pay tribute to UNC Charlotte shooting victims.

A gunman opened fire on the campus Tuesday, killing two people and injuring four others.

The university is located approxiamtely five miles from Hendrick Motorsports' headquarters and race shop.

The Alan D. Kulwicki Motorsports Laboratory at UNCC— named after the 1992 Winston Cup Champion and engineer, Alan Kulwicki — trains engineering students interested in motorsports to design, build and race their own cars.

One of the shooting victims, Riley Howell, 21, of Waynesville, N.C., jumped on the shooter to save lives and was buried with military honors Sunday after a police escort transported his body home.
