The Cincinnati Bengals selected Joe Burrow as the No.1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. The quarterback has since established himself as one of the best signal-callers in the league.

In Feb. 2022, Burrow led the Bengals to the Super Bowl, which they eventually lost to the Los Angeles Rams. Before the big game, the Cincinnati star revealed which NFL team he supported as a kid and which quarterback he idolized.

When asked who he rooted for as a kid growing up in Athens, Ohio, Burrow answered:

"I was actually a Saints fan because I was a big fan of Drew Brees, so I was a Saints fan in Ohio."

Burrow went to college at Ohio State from 2015 to 2017 before transferring to Louisiana State University for two years. The quarterback seemingly had connections to the New Orleans Saints since the NFL franchise is also based in Louisiana. At the time, Drew Brees was the superstar signal caller for the team.

Although Burrow was drafted by the Bengals, he admitted that he never considered asking Cincinnati not to pick him to potentially land a move to New Orleans. When asked why he chose not to do this, Burrow replied:

"I never thought about telling the Bengals not to draft me or anything like that. I was just happy to be in the position I was in, being the potential number one pick. That was exciting for me and I would never throw that opportunity away."
