It should be excellent news for you if you are still in the running in fantasy in Week 17 of the NFL season. This week is championship week. Week 17 is the only thing that matters as it is now time for death or glory.

Fantasy managers should ensure that they are paying attention to waiver wire pickups, as there is always gold to be found. Regardless of whether you are competing for a league championship or are playing out the rest of your season, it's best to finish on a high.

Even if none of the mentioned players look set to start for you, having additional players is still crucial. Injuries happen and can derail your season right at the end. Not to mention the importance of blocking your rivals in their time of need too.

NFL Week 17 fantasy football waiver wire targets

RB Khalil Herbert - Chicago Bears

Last week, Khalil Herbert only managed seven yards on six runs, but the most crucial thing was that he got back on the field. He is expected to perform better against a Detroit Lions defense that was just pounded for 290 yards by Chuba Hubbard and D'Onta Foreman. Herbert is a good flex alternative this week in NFL fantasy.

RB Tyler Allgeier - Atlanta Falcons

This could be the finest running back acquisition of Week 17. In Week 16, Allgeier faced off against the Baltimore Ravens and was unsurprisingly pinned to the ground. Although he still gained 74 yards on the ground in that game, he also reeled in four catches for 43 yards during a season-high five targets.

His next assignment will be against the Arizona Cardinals, and we anticipate a huge game. The Cardinals have given up the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs this season.

QB Brock Purdy - San Francisco 49ers

Since replacing Jimmy Garoppolo a few weeks back, Brock Purdy has been a surprise for the San Francisco 49ers and a respectable fantasy candidate. In the four games he has started, he has recorded an average of 17.6 fantasy points. In the 49ers' 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 16, he produced comparable figures. He should be viable if you're in a tight spot at quarterback due to the injury sustained by Jalen Hurts.

WR Jahan Dotson - Washington Commanders

Many NFL fantasy managers released Jahan Dotson when he had a downturn after a great first few weeks, but he has since become a significant player.

Dotson started a hot run when he recorded his first double-digit fantasy output since the beginning of October in Week 13. In Week 16, the rookie continued his solid play, scoring another 19.6 points after hauling in six receptions for 76 yards on a season-high nine targets. He also scored in the end zone for the third game in a row.

Dotson looks a reliable flex in Week 17 of the NFL season and can be relied on if needed.

QB Gardner Minshew – Philadelphia Eagles

In their last outing against the Dallas Cowboys, Gardner Minshew filled in for the injured Jalen Hurts. He was fantastic, demonstrating once more why he ought to be a starter for an NFL team rather than competing for a backup position.

If Hurts cannot play this week, Minshew might very well be your starter at quarterback because of his 355 passing yards and three total touchdowns in the last game. Minshew is a solid starter in Week 17 of the NFL season.
