Achille Emana: A Brief Biography

Achille Emaná Edzimbi is an Cameroonian professional football player. He was born on 5 June 1982 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is an attacking midfielder. He has made approximately 50 appearances for the national side which include 6 goals.

Background


He began with Babimbi Douala in 1997 and continued there till 1999. His younger brother is also a football player.

Debut


Emaná debuted in 2003 and represented the Cameroon national team in FIFA Confederations Cup. In the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, he again appeared for the country.


Low Points


In 2007, he himself got derided with the national team and retired from international play but again came back with the 2008 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. In this match he scored in a 5–1 group stage win against Zambia.


At the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa, Emaná represented Cameroon, playing in two games which were both losses.

Club Career


Emaná started out with the Babimbi Douala in 1997.


Emaná was in Valencia for a very short period and till 2000.


In 2000, Emaná joined Toulouse FC and soon he became an important first team unit for this Ligue 2 club.


In 2006, he scored eight times in 36 matches and helped the club in achieving UEFA Champions League qualification honours and finishing a best-ever third in the first division. In total he appeared in 231 matches and scored 28 goals.


On 11 June 2008 the news came about Emaná's possible transfer to Real Betis. On 22 July he joined them for a fee of £5.5 million. Emaná netted his first goal for Betis on 19 October 2008 and it was a 3–0 home win over RCD Mallorca.

Emaná moved to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal FC on 11 August 2011 via a contact worth US $6 million. He made 11 appearances and 2 goals in the club.


Then on 2nd January he was loaned to United Arab Emirates' Al Ahli Club (Dubai). Here he made 12 appearances and 4 goals.


Emaná was loaned to fellow league team Al Wasl FC until the end of the season on 22 January 2013.


On 27 August, the same year he moved to Cruz Azul.


Emaná signed with Atlante F.C. on 17 December 2014.
