Alberto Lopo: A Brief Biography

Alberto Lopo García is a Spanish professional footballer from Barcelona, Spain who plays as a central defender for Getafe CF. He started to play football at the age of 10 starting his professional career at local club RCD Espanyol. Lopo made his debut in La Liga against Real Zaragoza on April 1999. at the age of eighteen. He breakthrough came in 2001-02 when he scored his first goal and also received his first red card during a 0–2 away loss against city rivals FC Barcelona. He has played a total of 8 games for the Spanish National Team. Alberto Lopo has also a member of Espanyol B from season 1998-1999 and Espanyol from season1999-2006. Lopo was considered as one of the best Spanish central defenders available when he was signed on a free transfer in May 2006. He joined Deportivo de La Coruña in 2006. In June 2011, the then 31-year old free agent signed a three-year contract with Getafe CF. On the International front, Lopo made his debut for the regional team of Catalonia against Chile in December 2011.
