Andreu Fontas


Andreu Fontàs i Prat is a Spanish football player who plays mainly as a central defender for FC Barcelona. Fontas began his professional football career at FC Barcelona , having previously played for 11 years with CD Banyoles. In 2009 , he made his first team debut in the final six minutes of a 3-0 La Liga home against Sporting de Gijon. During the season 2009-10, Fontas called-up for the Spanish Super cup game against Athletic Bilbao and UEFA Super Cup game against FC Shakhtar Donetsk. Thereafter improving himself , he made his first league with the first team with a 50-meter pass for the fourth goal although made his UEFA Champions League debut in the 2-0 home win against FC Rubin Kazan in 2010. He then played with CA Osasuna for the season's of Copa del Rey where he suffered by an anterior cruciate ligament injury however and being sidelined for several months. Andreu Fontas represented his team Spain at the Under-19, Under-20 and Under -21 levels and also played for the Catalonia national team in 2010.
