Cristopher Toselli: A Brief Biography

Cristopher Benjamín Toselli Ríos is a Chilean professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the Chilean club Everton, on loan from Universidad Catolica. Toselli was born in Antofagasta, Chile


Background


Toselli became part of the Universidad Católica youth team in the year 2001, and became part of the senior team in the year 2007.


In the same year, his performance in the FIFA U-20 World Cup was commendable. Toselli was part of the Chile U20 national team for the 2007 South American Youth Championship in Paraguay.


Debut


Toselli debuted in the senior team of the Universidad Católica in the year 2007 during a 3–0 home win to Coquimbo Unido played at San Carlos. Toselli played his first senior international game for his country against Panama, the match concluded in a 2–1 victory over Chile.


Rise to glory


In the year 2009, in the the 2009 Toulon Tournament which Chile had won, Toselli was declared the Best goalkeeper of Toulon Tournament. In 2013, Toselli was the Chilean Footballer of the Year.


Toselli is known for defeating Cláudio Taffarel's clean-sheet record of 484 minutes during 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada which aided the youth team of Chile to conclude at the third position in the tournament.


Club Career


Since the very beginning of Toselli’s career, he has been goalkeeping for Universidad Católica. Presently, he has been taken on loan by the club Atlas.
