Bayern Munich extend Franck Ribéry and Daniel van Buyten contracts
German triple winners FC Bayern Munich have extended the contracts of French winger Franck Ribéry and Belgian centre-back Daniel van Buyten following the clubs most successful season in its history.
30-year-old Franck Ribéry, who had a contract in place until June 30, 2015 has extended his existing contract with the club by another two years until June 30, 2017. It is an open secret that Ribéry is very happy at FC Bayern, especially now after finally winning the UEFA Champions League trophy.
Meanwhile 35-year-old Daniel van Buyten has extended his expiring contract by one year until June 30, 2014. The experienced van Buyten has been a dependable centre-back over the last few years and there whenever needed, and with Holger Badstuber not available due to his long ACL layoff, van Buyten staying is a good move by the club.
"We're delighted to retain two important pillars of our team," commented FC Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, "Franck and Daniel achieved unbelievable things last season. We could always rely on them, and they've often made the difference, especially in crucial matches."
