Deependra Negi

Deependra Singh Negi is an Indian footballer who was born on November 20, 1998 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He plays as a Midfielder for his team. He has captained India U-17 squad and has played for Spanish Clubs as well. At Present, he is a member of the ISL Club Kerala Blasters.

Background

Deependra Negi was keen on becoming a footballer from his boyhood days. He started working on his skills at an early age and started his Youth Career in the year 2012 with the AIFF Elite Academy. He was a member of the team until 2015 and became a star player of the team over the years.

He was a member of the Indian team in the 2013 SAFF Championship held in Nepal which was won by India. Deependra had not made any significant contribution in the tournament but he was too young to be evaluated at that time.

After he participated in the AFC Cup Qualifiers, he was made the captain of the Indian team for the U-17 group in the Subroto Cup Football.

Debut

Deependra is yet to make his Senior International debut in the game. But, he had an impressive debut in the U-17 football team. He played his first match in the 2015 Subroto Cup against Pune. He was the only scorer in that match and AIFF won it by a score of 1-0.

Rise to Glory

Deependra was a star after he led the AIFF Elite Academy to victory in the Subroto Cup in 2015. He was spotted by Spanish Clubs and was called to play in their domestic league. He played for the Spanish Club CF Reus in the Segunda Division. In 2017, he made his return to Indian Clubs and joined the Kerala Blasters In the Indian Super League.

Club Career

Deependra has been a member of the Segunda Division team CF Reus which reached round 2 in the 2016-17 season. Moreover, he had also played in the Cerdanya Cup. His performance as well as skills were well praised and that earned him a high place in the ISL.

In ISL, he has played only one match for his team and has won the HEro of the Match award in that match for an impressive performance in that match. With his skills on top, one can expect a lot more from him in the matches to come.
