Diego Souza Biography


Diego de Souza Andrade a Brazilian footballer born on 17th June, 1985. He was born in Rio de janeiro, aged 32 years.


He plays as an attacking midfielder and a forward. He currently plays for Sãu Paulo in Brazilian league.


Background


Diego was a part of Brazil uU7 team that participated in the South American football championship. As part of Brazil u23 side, he even participated in the FIFA Youth World Cup in 2005.


Debut


He made his debut in the year 2009 representing Brazil against Bolivia. His first International goal came against Australia in 2017. He made his debut with Fluminense in the Brazilian league.


Rise


He scored an unbelievable goal against Atlético Mineiro from the midfield playing for Palmeiras in 2009. In the year 2011, Diego was part of the winning team Vasco, the Brazilian cup holder.


After warming up on the bench for poor performance, Diego however finished as the runner up of the Brasileirão scoring 2 goals in an away win and a single goal against Gremio.


Fall


Due to few poor performances Diego had to be on the bench quite a few times. Inconsistency proved to be a big factor. He was awarded a red card for arguing with Domingos in 2009.


Clubs


Starting his club career in 2003 with Fluminense, he continued to play till 2005 before moving on to Palmeiras till 2010 and Atletico Mineiro and Vasco da Gama in the following successive years (10-11 & 11-12).


He represented Al-ittihad and Cruzeiro in 2012 and 2013. He currently plays for Sãu Paulo.

Diego Souza in his 321 appearances for clubs represented, he amassed a total tally of 76 goals in his career. The highest share of which came when playing for Sport Recife scoring 54 goals.
