Edson Puch: A Brief Biography
Edson Puch is a Chilean footballer who plays as a forward for the Mexican club Queretaro, on loan from Pachuca and represents Chile national team at the highest level. Born on 9 April 1986. Puch hails from Iquique in Chile. His mainly plays as a right winger but can also play as a left winger or as a centre-forward.
Background
Puch began his football career in his hometown Iquique with club Deportes Iquique youth ranks, he then moved to Huachipato and started his senior career in 2005-06 season. He came back to Iquique and played for Deportes Iquique for two seasons in which he made 74 appearances and found the back of the net 22 times.
Debut and International Career
Puch made his international debut on 27 May 2009 against Japan in the Kirin Cup, where he came as a 46th-minute substitute for Jorge Valdivia. In 2011, he played his first full international game against the United States in a 1-1 draw.
Puch scored his maiden international goal in a 7-0 win against Mexico in the Copa America Centenario. He has made 19 appearances for the Chilean national football team has scored two goals.
Club Career
In 2009, Puch moved to the Chilean Primera Division club Universidad de Chile where he made 65 appearances and scored 17 goals in the two seasons he spent with the club.
On 14 May 2011, he accepted an offer from the Dubai based United Arab Emirates Football League club Al Wasl FC for a $4 million fee. Being coached by Argentine legend Diego Maradona, Puch scored one goal in six league matches.
In 2012, he returned to Deportes Iquique on loan. After completing the six-month loan period in June, he didn’t feature in any game during the second half of the year. He officially re-joined Deportes Iquique in January 2013 where he scored two goals in 26 appearances.
In June 2013, he returned to the Emirati club Al Wasl where he scored one goal in ten UAE Arabian Gulf League games.
He moved to Argentina and signed for Huracan. After playing for the Argentine club for an year, he signed for the Ecuadorian professional football club LDU Quito.
After playing for Necaxa and Pachuca, he signed for the Mexican club Queretaro on loan from Pachuca in December 2017.
