Emir Spahic: A Brief Biography

Emir Spahic is a Bosnian football central defender playing for Anzhi Makhachkala on loan from Sevilla FC and captains the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. He is naturally left footed but can play with either foot very well. On 24 June 2009, Spahic announced that he will join the newly promoted Montpellier squad for the 2009-10 Ligue 1 season. On his league debut against Paris Saint-Germain, he scored a header in the 94th minute for a 1-1 draw, which earned a point for the newly promoted club. On 4 July 2011, Spahic agreed a transfer with Sevilla for 2 million euros. He will stay at the Andalusian club until July 2014. Spahic scored his first goal for Sevilla on 5 January 2013 in a 1-0 victory against Osasuna. On 26 February 2013, Spahic left Sevilla and was loaned to Anzhi Makhachkala. He scored his first goal for the club on 14 April 2013 against Volga Nizhny Novgorod. Spahic is the captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. On 7 June 2003, he made his debut as a substitute against Romania at Stadionul Ion Oblemenco in Craiova.
