Ezequiel Alberto Duran was born on May 22, 1999, in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. He is a Dominican professional baseball player who is currently playing for the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball. He plays two positions: an infielder and an outfielder.


He made his professional debut in the Rookie Level Dominican Summer League for the DSL Yankees after he was signed by the New York Yankees in November 2017 as an international free agent. He went on to play for the Pulaski Yankees in the Rookie-level Appalachian League and also played for the Staten Island Yankees and Hudson Valley Renegades, while he was under a contract with the Yankees. On July 29, 2021, Duran along with Josh Smith, Gleen Otto, and Trevor Hauver were traded to the Texas Rangers in exchange for Joey Gallo and Joely Rodriguez. In 2022, Duran debuted in Major League Baseball with the Rangers. After the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks throughout five World Series games in 2023, he was crowned the World Series Champion.

Duran, after becoming an international free agent in November 2017, was signed by the New York Yankees. He had previously fallen off the international prospect radar after failing to register with MLB following his 16th birthday in 2015, but came to terms with New York-AL as an 18-year-old two years later in 2017. He was signed by New York Yankees scouts Juan Rosario, Raymon Sanchez and Victor Mata.


He made his professional debut for the DSL Yankees while playing in the Rookie Level Dominican Summer League under a contract with the Yankees. Duran played for the Pulaski Yankees of the Rookie Level Appalachian League in 2018. He had a slash line of .393/.415/.754/.1.169 with three home runs and 11 RBIs over 15 games played. He played for the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League's Staten Island Yankees in 2019. He finished the season with 13 home runs, 37 RBI, and 11 stolen bases while batting .256/ .329/ .496/ .824. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic-related postponement of the Minor League Baseball season in 2020, Durán did not participate in games. In 2021 he played with the Huston Valley Renegades. In July 2021, Duran was traded to the Texas Rangers.


While in the Rangers’ farm system, he played for teams like Hickory Crawdads, Surprise Saguaros, Frisco RoughRiders and the Round Rock Express. On June 4, 2022, Duran was promoted to the Major Leagues and made his debut against the Seattle Mariners.
