Farid Diaz: A Brief Biography
Farid Alfonso Diaz Rhenals is a professional footballer from Colombia. He was born on the 20th of July, 1983 in Valledupar, Colombia. Diaz is a wingback who is currently in Paraguay featuring in the Primera Division.
Background
Farid Diaz started his football career with Atletico Bucaramanga in 2003. The wingback remained with the club until 2006 and made 49 appearances for them. He then left for the Colombian club Deportivo Rionegro in 2006. Having failed to fit into the teams’ plans, he left for Atletico Junior where he made just three appearances.
Diaz was not able to up the ante and improve his game. He was increasingly finding it difficult to break into the first team. During training sessions, he failed to show remarkable progress which did not help his cause as he was not able to stick to one club.
Debut
Diaz made his international debut on the 7th of October, 2016 against Paraguay. A last minute goal helped Colombia to seal the match 1-0. Farid did not have an impactful game as he did not have a significant say in the outcome of the match. The 34-year old has played 13 games so far for his country.
Rise to Glory
The wingback does not have anything significant to show in his professional career. He was a part of the Colombia side that secured the third spot in the Copa America 2016 but failed to get a game in the tournament.
Diaz has won the Categoria Primera A on four occasions and Copa Colombia in 2012 and 2013. However, he has failed to emerge as one of the top players for his side whenever the team has won the title.
Low Points
The 34-year old wingback hasn’t had a illustrious career. He has won titles but that hasn’t defined his career. After leaving Athletic Junior in 2007, Diaz played for Envigado, Deportivo Pereira, Atletico Nacional and is currently with Olimpia Asuncion. He remained with Atletico Nacional for five seasons but did not have a season where everything went his way. He got a consistent run of appearances but did not deliver results that were expected from him.
It is highly unlikely that Farid Diaz will improve his stats from here as he is 34 already and may not be physically fit to feature in games consistently.
