Jeroen Zoet: A Brief Biography

Jeroen Zoet is a professional football player of Dutch origin. He was born on 6 January 1991 in Veendam, Netherlands. He plays the role of a goalkeeper for his team. He currently plays for the PSV team in the Dutch Eredivisie.


Background


Zoet started playing the game early in his life. He started playing for youth academy of BV Veendam and played for them till 2006. In 2006, he started playing for PSV. As he played for them for some time, he began to move above in the ranks and soon earned a call for the senior squad. He played for the Netherlands national team at the Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 team.


Debut


Zoet earned his first ever call to the senior side of PSV in the 2008-09 season. He ended up making it to the bench in a game against AZ. At the international level, he got his first ever call to the senior Netherlands team in September 2012. He made his debut at the international level against Kazakhstan on 10 October when he entered the field as a substitute for Tim Krul. He made his league debut against Heracles on 6 August 2011.


Rise to glory


While playing for PSV, Zoet got some loan spells at the RKC. In fact, he made his league debut while on loan only. He returned to the PSV squad in the beginning of the 2013-14 season and that’s when he began to rise to prominence. He became the first choice of the team as the goalkeeper for the team.


Since then, he has been widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Eredivisie. He has been successful in attracting interest of Premier League Clubs like Newcastle and Arsenal. He was the first goalkeeper of the PSV squad that won the Eredivisie in the year 2014-15.
