Loken Meitei is an Indian footballer born on the 4th of May, 1997 in Manipur, India. He plays as a midfielder for the Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League.
Meitei started his career by playing for the youth side of the i-league team Royal Wahingdoh which is based in Shillong. He then made his move to the first division side of Shillong - Shillong United in 2014 for a season long loan.
He achieved much fame and limelight at the very young age of seventeen.
Being just twenty years old, Meiti has not yet made his debut for the Indian National Men’s football team.
Rise to Glory
Meitei returned to Royal Wahingdoh in 2015 after a year long loan to make his professional debut in the i-league. This happened on the 27th of January, 2015 against Bharat F.C. Wahingdoh won that match by a very close margin of 2-1.
He spent two seasons in his boyhood club Royal Wahingdoh as he started giving indications of leaving after receiving offers from other i-league sides in 2016.
After leaving Royal Wahingdoh, Loken Meitei played for teams like Real Kashmir and Sagolband United for very short periods in 2017.
Meitei was a part of the 2017-18 draft of the Indian Super League. On the 23rd of July, 2017, he received his breakthrough as he was selected to play for the South Indian heavyweights - the Kerala Blasters.
His first match was a high scoring extravaganza against FC Goa which ended in a 5-2 loss for the Blasters. Till now he has played a total of 183 minutes in six matches with a positive pass accuracy and no bookings.
