Maic Sema: A Brief Biography
Maic Ndongala Namputu Sema, also known as Maic Sema is a Swedish football player who was born on 2 December 1988 in Åsele, Sweden.
At the present time, Sema plays for NorthEast United FC in Indian Super League. Having played in several leagues around the world, he is an experienced and dexterous player who has played in several positions such as Midfield, Right and Left Wing, Centre-Forward, Secondary Striker, Left-Back etc.
Although, in general, he plays as an Attacking Midfielder and often proves himself significant with his aggressive and frisky game in the midfield region.
Background
Sema had started playing football since he was a 5-6 years old kid. He and his brother Ken Sema, who is also a footballer, used to play together in their childhood. Later, Sema was obtained by the swedish club IF Sylvia and played for the club's youth team until his inclusion in the senior squad.
Debut
After playing with the youth team for a period of time, he was added to the senior squad of the club in 2007 and made his debut on 23 April 2007 in a game of Superettan, a Swedish association football league. Match was against Landskrona which ended up on a goalless draw.
In 2007-08, he featured in 38 fixtures for IF Sylvia, scoring 6 goals. In 2008, he moved to Hammarby.
Rise to glory
2011 season was proved to be the best season of his career as he scored 10 goals for the Hammarby IF including match winning goals against Landskrona and Västerås SK. He had also provided 3 important assists. For his electrifying performance in the tournament, he was also elected as Player of the Year by fans.
In January 2012, Sema went to Norwegian football club Haugesund and later in 2013, MVV Maastricht loaned him from the club. He played 15 games in Dutch Eerste Divisie for MVV Maastricht, claiming 5 goals.
Club career
Before moving to NorthEast United FC in 2018, Sema has also played for AEL Limassol in 2015 and Orebro SK in the season of 2016-17. He has played 5 ISL games till the time.
