Ritu Rani is the captain of the Indian Women's Hockey Team which qualified for the Olympics after a gap of 36 years. One of the senior-most players of the squad, the 24-
year-old plays as a midfielder in this team. The 1980 Moscow Olympics and the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester were the most celebrated moment for women's hockey. But by qualifying in the Games this year, Ritu Rani ensured that we have to managed to push the bar higher. The Shahbad Academy product has been a part of the national squad since the age of 14 and became the captain in 2011. She has led the team to bronze medals at the 2013 Asia Cup and 2014 Asian Games.
