Ryan O'Hearn was born on July 26, 1993. He is a member of the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball. He primarily plays as a first baseman.


O'Hearn was a player with the Kansas City Royals before he signed with the Orioles. Despite not being selected in the 2011 MLB draft out of high school, O'Hearn continued his education by enrolling at Sam Houston State University to play college baseball. Later, in 2014, the Kansas City Royals selected O'Hearn in the eighth round of the 2014 MLB draft. He spent four years in the Royals' farm system before debuting with them on July 31, 2018. On January 3, 2023, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles. He was assigned to the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. The Orioles selected his contract on April 13, 2023. That afternoon, in his Orioles debut, he had an 8-7 victory over the Oakland Athletics. O'Hearn recorded his first three RBI games in two years. Playing away from home on September 18, 2023, he helped the Orioles win 8–7, setting a career-high for hits in a single game.

Ryan O’Hearn’s Early Life

Ryan O'Hearn received his diploma from Frisco, Texas' Wakeland High School. His .505 batting average as a senior, 15 home runs, and 55 RBI earned him a berth on Baseball America's second team of the High School All-Americans. In the 2011 MLB draft, he did not receive a draft selection out of high school. He then went on to enroll at Sam Houston State University to play collegiate baseball. His junior season in 2014 was when he batted .292 in 62 games with eight home runs and 44 RBIs.


O'Hearn was chosen by the Kansas City Royals in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball 2014 draft. The same season, he signed with the Idaho Falls Chukars, where he played for the whole 2014 season, finishing with a .361 batting average, 13 home runs, and 54 RBIs in 64 games. Following a season that saw him bat .277 with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs with the Lexington Legends, O'Hearn was promoted to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, where he finished with a .236 batting average, eight home runs, and 21 RBIs.


Ryan O’Hearn opened the 2018 season with Omaha (AAA), where he batted .232/.322/.391 (82-for-353) in 100 games with 33 extra-base hits and 52 RBI. After being picked from Omaha on July 31, he made his Major League debut in Chicago the same evening. Later, against James Shields, he blasted a two-run home run in the fifth inning, making history as the third Royal to score two runs in a Major League game. In his 44 career games, he had the most extra-base hits (24), home runs (12), and RBI (30). On July 31, 2018, O'Hearn was called up to the major leagues, where he scored a home run in his opening contest. With 44 games played, he finished the season with 12 home runs and 30 RBIs.
