Xabier 'Xabi' Prieto Argarate is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Sociedad in La Liga. He mainly plays in the position of a right midfielder and is also a penalty kick specialist. Prieto made his La Liga debut with hometown club Real Sociedad on 8 October 2003 in a win over CA Osasuna. He had eight other substitute appearences during that season. The following year, he profited from his second start by scoring two goals against Real Madrid, one of which was a penalty shot. This victory led to Prieto's promotion to the first squad where in he participated in all 38 games, scoring nine times, six of them being penalties. Prieto played in 35 matches in 2009–10 and in the first game of the following season against Villarreal CF, he scored the game's only goal, after a backheel pass from newly-signed Joseba Llorente.
