Shemar Moore is the son of Sherrod Moore. As per reports, Moore’s father was a U.S. Army veteran. Being African, Sherrod Moore broke all the societal stereotypes by marrying a White woman, at a time when interracial marriages were not acceptable. The two then welcomed their son, Shemar in 1970. However, after some time, Moore’s father left his mother and Shemar to fend for themselves.

During an interview, Shemar Moore opened up about being raised by a single mother, after his father left them. Moore said, "I'm an only child raised by a single mom, and I really tip my cap to her because all my life, she was my mentor and my hero. We tell each other that we were at the front of the line when they were handing out mothers and sons. She always was trying to save the world. She was trying to save the neighborhood."

As per the Criminal Minds actor, his father Sherrod Moore did return to reconcile their relationship. However, he made sure that he kept his father at a distance and on his terms. Unfortunately, Moore’s father passed away in 2020.

Although being left alone with a child, Marilyn Wilson ensured that Shemar Moore had a great life.

Unfortunately, Shemar Moore’s mother Marilyn passed away in February 2020, after her long battle against sclerosis. She was 78 years old at the time of her passing.
