What did Future say about his split with Ciara? Details explored amid news of former couple's son adding new surname
Nearly a year after his split with Ciara, Future gave an interview with HuffPost Live in July 2015. Commenting on allegations of his cheating on the singer and dancer, Nayvadius DeMun Cash said that everyone had speculated what went down between him and Ciara.
"A lot of people said, 'Man, he cheated'… But our relationship had nothing to do with cheating. We grew apart. When you're a man, you want to make decisions for your family, and sometimes the lady doesn't see what you see… I called [the engagement] off way before any cheating rumors came out. The engagement was already off," Future mentioned at the time.
When asked if the former couple's decision to separate was mutual, the rapper said that it was he who said the relationship wasn't going to work. He added that Ciara wasn't upset at the conversation as he explained his point to her.
Moreover, Nayvadius shared additional insight into his split with Ciara, stating:
"We were like best friends and I told her how I felt... She was like, ‘Nah, I just took pictures' with the bridal thing… So it was like more of embarrassment and I felt embarrassed for her because you love someone you don't want them to feel uncomfortable."
Additionally, during her appearance on Red Table Talk in 2019, Ciara mentioned that her and Future's son played a big role in her decision to call it off with the rapper, adding she looked up to her parents to determine the kind of relationship she wanted.
The singer and actress gave credit to her "dad's love", stating that it was what saved her in similar situations, as things would get to a point where Ciara would wonder, "my dad wouldn’t do this to my mom. This can’t be love."
She added:
“I’ve always had the same goal of wanting to be loved a certain way, but I was just walking in the wrong direction.”
In addition to his son with Ciara, Nayvadius DeMun Cash has six children: Jakobi, who he shares with Jessica Smith, Londyn, who the rapper shares with India J, Prince with Brittni, and son Hendrix with Joie Chavis. He is also the father of Kash and Paris, whose mothers remain unnamed.
