On August 23, 2025, internet personality DJ Akademiks took to X to post a video of his deposition concerning the Megan Thee Stallion-Tory Lanez case. In the video, the lawyers asked Akademiks questions concerning his financial compensation for speaking on multiple artists and record labels, and for promoting the same.In the video of his deposition, DJ Akademiks denied questions concerning whether he has been paid to refrain from talking about any topic online. However, the internet personality admitted to being paid for promoting "every record label known to man." Akademiks did mention that Roc Nation was one of the labels paying him for promotion.Additionally, the lawyers sought a link between Akademiks' activities and an alleged connection between a reported media campaign against Megan. However, Akademiks denied the same and also expressed discontent with being questioned via his Instagram Stories. 'U sure Drake ain't pay u' 'U sure Nicki ain't paying blogs' 'Who is grand wizard' 'Did Tory send u bread on cash app?'"Megan Thee Stallion previously clapped back at DJ Akademiks for spreading false newsThe recent instance of DJ Akademiks being a part of the deposition in Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez's case is not the first time the internet personality has been a part of the situation.Back in February 2022, Akademiks took to X and posted a false report about Megan and Lanez's court hearing concerning the July 2020 shooting incident, wherein the latter shot the female rapper in the feet after a party. In his tweet, Akademiks wrote:"BREAKING: It was revealed in court few moments ago that Tory Lanez DNA WAS NOT found on the weapon in the Meg Thee Stallion case."While DJ Akademiks deleted the tweet shortly after posting it, the post was noticed by Megan, given that it was reported by multiple media portals and social media pages. He was convicted on three felony charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, assault with a firearm, and negligent discharge of a firearm.Lanez's conviction resulted in him being sentenced to a decade-long prison sentence in August 2023.
