American television host and actress Vanessa Lachey recently gave her thoughts on NCIS: Hawai'i getting canceled on Friday, April 26, 2024. Lachey played the franchise's female lead.

She starred as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant in the Hawaii-based NCIS spinoff. On April 27, 2024, the 43-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to write:

"Gutted, confused, blindsided. Grateful, confident, beloved fans! Processing this news and still being present with my family. I Love You all!"

She concluded the post by saying "Mahalo Nui Loa," which translates to "Thank you very much." The message was written on an image of the "NCIS: Hawai'i" logo. Several of her other castmates also shared their disappointment over the cancellation news.

NCIS Hawai'i first aired on September 20, 2021, and will conclude with its season 3 finale, now serving as the series finale, on Monday, May 6, 2024.

The series is about Special Agent Jane Tennant, played by Vanessa Lachey, and her team who work together to resolve cases and deliver justice to the criminals in Hawaii.

Vanessa Lachey made history as a woman of color who became the franchise's first female lead. She was also part of the original, portraying the same character, Jane Tennant.

Just two weeks ago, on April 15, 2024, the actress celebrated the NCIS franchise's 1000 episode with a post on Instagram saying:

"Thank YOU (Mahalo) for getting us to 1000 @ncisverse episodes! Monday, April 15th NCIS: Hawai’i, right after the mothership NCIS, will be episode #1001 titled: 'The Next Thousand'! You guys are the BEST fans in the world! ❤️🤙🏽"

The television host's fans, along with the series fans, are not pleased with the cancellation and have even gone so far as to create a petition on Change.com. The petition called for CBS to save the show, and the hashtag #SaveNCISHawaii has gone viral on X.

NCIS: Hawai'i starred several other artists including Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Tori Anderson, Jason Antoon, and Kian Talan. Along with Vanessa Lachey, other cast members expressed their thoughts over the discontinuation. Tori Anderson, who portrayed FBI agent Kate Whistler, posted on X Friday:

"Having a really hard time processing this one. Thank you to our incredible crew who made every single day feel like I was living a dream. I want to say thank you to all the fans. My heart breaks for you as well. This is a huge loss for representation. Love you all so much."

The show was huge for representation, especially for women, the LGBTQ community, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. The series co-creators and producers Christopher Silber and Matt Bosack were also disappointed by the news, as Silber wrote on X, reminiscing about the beginning:

"Four years ago, @JanNash100 @mattbosack and I started something very special. We joined with an incredible cast, amazing writers, and crew... and gathered in Hawai'i to make a show. But ended up creating an ohana. I'm so grateful to you all."

Vanessa Lachey is also famous for co-hosting the shows Love is Blind and The Ultimatum. She has been a part of other shows including Dads, Truth Be Told, Love Is Blind's season 6.
