After being suspended from Instagram for breaking their rules against harassment, bullying, and hate speech, Kanye's performance was canceled by the Recording Academy. Additionally, Kanye's suspension followed his use of a racial epithet against Grammys host Trevor Noah, who had previously called out Kanye for harassing his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson in a Daily Show segment.

Trevor stated in the segment, "I see a woman who wants to live her life without being harassed by an ex-boyfriend, ex-husband, or an ex-anything." "You might not feel sorry for Kim because she's rich and well-known, because of how she dresses, because she appropriates Black culture, because she labels women as lazy, because she hacked the internet and didn't fix it, or for any other number of reasons. Anyhow, you despise her. However, what she is going through is horrifying to witness and sheds light on the struggles that so many women face when they decide to leave.

Kanye's music video for "Eazy," in which he buried a claymation man who resembled Pete Davidson, was released after the decision to cancel his Grammys performance was made. According to a since-deleted Instagram post by Kanye, "Art is therapy just like this view."

What was the “concerning online behavior” by Kanye?

The Recording Academy's choice was made a few days after Ye insulted Trevor Noah, the host of the Daily Show and the man who will be hosting the annual music awards show next month, with racial slurs. Along with that, it comes after months of Ye sending inappropriate and abusive messages to his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend comedian Pete Davidson.

Ye is up for five Grammys this year, including album of the year for Donda, the album he named in memory of his late mother, and best rap song for "Jail." The talented musician has received 75 nominations overall and 22 Grammy awards thus far.

The 44-year-old was suspended from Instagram for a day for violating the social media network's policies against hate speech, bullying, and harassment by calling Noah a racist name.

How did the Kanye-Noah feud get aggravated?

"It touches on a subject that is more delicate and important than people would like to acknowledge. I'm aware that everyone believes it to be a sizable marketing ploy”, Noah said on the Comedy Central program. "Two things might be true: Kim enjoys the spotlight. Kim also experiences harassment. These events might occur simultaneously. Because, if I'm being completely honest with you, what I see in this situation is a woman who wants to go about her life without having to deal with harassment from an ex-boyfriend, ex-husband, or any other ex.”

The comic went on to say that it was terrifying to witness what she was going through and that it highlighted the struggles that many women face when they decide to leave a relationship.

Noah remembered how his mother had miraculously survived being shot in the head by an abusive stepfather who had raised him. The host clarified he wasn't suggesting West was capable of acting in a similar manner, but he recalled how his mother's allegations of abuse were disregarded. Instead of ignoring what he perceives to be abuse, he would rather appear foolish for bringing it up.

Is there a petition against Kanye West?

In addition to being barred from the Grammys, West could face other consequences for his recent behavior. The rapper has faced an unprecedented amount of criticism since his Instagram account was temporarily locked down. West will be the headlining act at the Coachella music festival in California next month. A petition has been started on Change.org to have him removed.

"We have observed Kanye harassing, controlling, and harming Kim, Pete, and others for more than a year. Nobody appears to want to oppose him”, the petition claims. “The fact that he is permitted to act freely like this is absurd. Coachella and other companies that are still collaborating with him ought to be ashamed of themselves and stop providing him with a stage." By Thursday, the petition had garnered close to 40,000 signatures.
