Willis has two brothers; one of them has died, and he has one younger sister. When he was two years old, he was moved to his father’s hometown of Carney’s Point, New Jersey. His father then worked as a factory worker and a master mechanic. Willis attended Penns Grove High School, where he joined an acting school and later became student council president.

After completing high school, he then worked as a security guard at a nuclear plant called Salem Nuclear Plant. He then used to transport his crew members to a factory in Deepwater, New Jersey. He then started to work as a private investigator. He then turned towards acting. He studied drama at Montclair State University. He then moved to New York City, where he worked as a bartender to support himself. He resided in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City.

At the earliest stage of his career, he was known for his comedic roles, like in the comedy series Moonlighting alongside Cybill Shepherd. Willis then unexpectedly landed the role of Los Angeles cop John McClane in the action film Die Hard. When Willis was cast in the film, he was met with severe backlash. Despite being a comedic actor, he did all of his stunts in the film Die Hard. Before starring in Die Hard, he appeared in the lead roles in Blind Date and Sunset.

Willis also had minor success as a singer and recorded various singles. Willis then starred in Die Hard sequels Die Hard 2 and Die Hard With A Vengeance. He then starred in The Bonfire of the Vanities, Hudson Hawk, The Last Boy Scout, Striking Distance, and Color of Night. Willis’ most popular films include Quentin Trantino’s Pulp Fiction, The Fifth Element, and the two films by M.Night Shyamalan, The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, which are considered Willis’ best career performances. Willis starred alongside Brad Pitt in the sci-fi film 12 Monkeys. In the 2000s, Willis returned to play John McClane in Die Hard 4.0. He then returned for the last time as McClane in the fifth installment of the Die Hard series, A Good Day To Die Hard.
